girlofprey: (Lost No Geneva Convention Sayidistan)

I'm still at Cee's. Mostly torturing her with all the food I don't eat. A food list may be required next time I stay. But, frankly, she didn't buy me any doughnuts, so in way she brought it all on herself.

I feel the need to point out that yesterday the flat was dark and cold because Cee had gone to work, and it was half an hour till I had to go out, so there didn't seem to be any point opening the blinds or turning the heating on. It's quite warm and I can see now.

Anyway. I went to the Green Wing convention. It turned out to be a fan-organised convention, not an 'official' one like I'd thought, so it was basically like a calm party in a big pub. But they gave us chocolate cocks as soon as we came in, so we were pretty happy. It was a bit odd because most of the people there knew each other from the website where it'd been organised, and - a lot of them were Caroline/Mac fans, as I'd sort of expected. One girl on my quiz team tried to talk to me about watching the banana-y kiss in the special over and over again, while I was like '...right.' So I mostly just sat with K, talking. K found it all a bit weird because she'd never been to a con before, but all in all it was quite fun. There was a quiz, in which I was rubbish because I haven't watched the DVD in ages, and the other people played Spoon of Destiny and Chocolate Towers, and Guyball outside briefly (mostly they were just running), and they randomly sold us green yo-yos throughout the day and the writers were there, and there were episodes playing on the big TVs constantly, and it was fun.

And Stephen Mangan came. I couldn't believe it. He just walked in and was real, and lovely. He does have a great smile. We were told not to swamp celebrities if they came, but people started walking up to him, and eventually started queueing up to have things signed and pictures taken. K didn't entirely understand that I was really content to be near and watch 'casually', and kept trying to either find something for me to have him sign or get us to go sit at the back of the bar. I had to explain to her. Eventually I decided I was wasting an opportunity (and really, as a Guy fangirl should have been heading the charge) and queued up to have him sign my yo-yo, but just as I got to the front of the queue, he decided it was time for him to go out and help coach the Guyball match. Which was sad. But he said 'hello' when I got roped into taking pictures of the girls in front of me with him, and later on Kathy made me take a picture of him, and he passed me just afterwards and possibly saw me messing with her phone, and smiled, and - oh. He was wearing baggy jeans, and a shirt that came out from under his jumper a bit at the back. And he played the winner of Spoon of Destiny to another match. And was great, really, to come to a fan convention in a pub when none of the other cast did. It was lovely. Even if I didn't quite get the courage to speak to him.

Anyway. There was a Q&A session with the writers (someone asked if they'd felt like 'going to ground' after Series 2 episode 8 given 'our' reaction to it), and a charity auction which was less fun when everyone else is willing to pay £50 for stuff, and in the case of scripts £300, and then finally a screening of our favourite episode - the party episode in series 1, which I voted for - during which people kept cheering the Caroline/Mac bits, and I don't begrudge them their ship but it would be nice if it was less all-encompassing. Anyway. It was good, and then from 9.30 onwards it was just dancing, and K had to get a tube home, so we left early. But it was a nice day, while it lasted. I have an urge to watch the entire series again now.

Then I came home with Cecilia and made her The Hitcher, which she seemed to quite enjoy. It's rather gay. Love is a knife in the groin, apparently. Now we're mostly watching DVDs and planning to go to the cinema, later. Ta-ta.

Being at Cee's is, I think, all about eating enough that Cee doesn't think you're going to starve in her house and learning to live without light. I say this in a spirit of flippancy and of total love. It's also about Simon and Garfunkel and guitars and HIGNFY and doughnuts and greatness and Cee.

What are you seeing at the cinema? There's *nothing on*. I think you are secretly getting better cinema than me. Hmph.

I didn't get any doughnuts. I COULD PROBABLY HAVE COPED WITHOUT LIGHT IF I DID.

We went to see Casino Royale again. Cee wanted to see it with me. Its probably better than anything currently coming out (though I'd like to see Perfume). We got shushed by the people in front of us. 'Twas win.

Yes. Because doughnuts are luminous, like torches.

You're cheating seeing old releases, but truly there is no other option. Though I have contemplated Perfume. I don't know. I DON'T KNOW. I wish to smell popcorn again as 'twere my youth. Or the end of last year.

They have a high sugar content, so technically if you burned them they should give off a decent glow. Or so I've heard.

I think you're confusing cheating with winning, my friend. For current releases, I don't know what to suggest. Hot Fuzz is out in February, and that's what I'm looking forward to. Maybe you should just buy a bag of popcorn.

Dude! I'm terribly glad you had a mostly-good time, even if the con WAS full of stinking caromaccers. Dude. I think that totally Caroline/Mac wouldn't be half as unbearable if it weren't for the fact that everyone 'ships it. Oh, boo to them.

But yay for making contact with Stephen Mangan, even if you didn't get anything signed! And yay that you get to see Cee and see films with Cee! Well done, you. *twirls you*

Oh God, it was bad. Not the con, but the Caroline/Macness. They had the Special playing, randomly, at one point, and all of a sudden everybody cheered at the banana kiss. But someone cheered at the Guy/Caroline kiss in episode 1.5 (though not for long), which was nice. SOMEHOW I PULLED MYSELF THROUGH.

:) Stephen Mangan and films with Cee are all I really ask for from a weekend, dude.

ah the world has been taken over by Caroline/Mac fans. I felt so bad for Guy during the banana kiss. Def took away the intended romance of it all

Mmm, yeah, and I wasn't entirely sold on the romance from the beginning. You can tell that most of the deleted Guy scenes got left out because they made Guy look too sympathetic, and soured the Caroline/Mac-ness. Anyway. I don't care. I have Guy, and the Caromaccers don't :)
