girlofprey: (All's Well That Ends With Cake (DW))

London stabbed me. In the finger, with glass. But still I feel like I should have an icon relating the fact.

First the stressy bits. I took 6 trains in 2 days. OMG THE TIRED. On the Thursday I got a lift with dad at 8:30 in the morning, which came to seem like a rubbish idea later. Anyway - had to buy a ticket to Nottingham there, which involved a change, but they didn't tell me where that was, or where the trains that would ultimately take me there were going so I could identify them on the board, and WHICH OF THE TWO GOING AT THE TIME THEY TOLD ME MY TRAIN WAS GOING WAS IN FACT MY TRAIN. And there was no-one at the information desk. So I had to flail for a while, and almost cry, but in the end got where I was going. Then my first train was delayed, due to a car hitting a railway bridge on the line. In the end it was delayed for about twenty minutes, which, by joyous coincidence, was about how much time I had to make my connection to the next train (the next day, I had ten minutes to make my connection. Can you guess how long I was delayed for? Go on, set your minds to work). But eventually I got to the train for London, and only had to worry about train crashes, so could settle down to read and giggle at the sheep sheltering under bridges from the heat. I was reading Neverwhere, by the way, which by scary curious coincidence was about a young man going to London. Even unto St Pancras. Mystical.

But I got to St Pancras by 2ish, which was strangely dismantled, and after a - short - while, [livejournal.com profile] jekesta and all the people tracked me down and it was yayful, even in the heat. We rode the tube, which was quite strange and terrifying, but quick, and I didn't fall down the escalators, so there you go. Then we went to [livejournal.com profile] ironicdutchess' flat (who is lovely and hospitable, though has apparently learned to live without towels), and there were doughnuts and other people. We then went (by tube) to Waterloo to become an even huger group (18 at last count, I think), and went to take the studio by storm! This involved sitting. But in circles, and there was lots of talking, and some ice-cream, so it was all good. [livejournal.com profile] nerdcakes and I discussed how we won at Green Wing, and [livejournal.com profile] calapine informed me her Tim/Duane fic was in fact started, and there was [livejournal.com profile] alicamel and [livejournal.com profile] slemslempike, and I'd like to name all the people but I really don't have a great memory for things that happen. I didn't get a chance to talk to [livejournal.com profile] lakester about Sea of Souls, which was sad. But it mostly it was great and the people were great, and now I'm here and they're not, woe.

Anyway. We finally got into the studios. I was a Priority. Hurrah. The studios were FREEZING, and I suddenly developed a cough I had to fight with throughout the show, but it was lovely, and Paul was ill but Jack Dee was lovely and I was entranced by his shirt and the fact that he occasionally smiled. He did do something very similar to my dad and one point though, and that confused the issue in a slightly disturbing way. But then they all went off on one thinking up names for pot noodles, except Jack who couldn't, and it was wonderful. Reminded me of the Fantaberry bit from ages ago. It was odd seeing them all up close and from the wrong angle, but SOUNDING EXACTLY AS THEY ALWAYS DO. In a good way though. Also, Jack shamelessly tried to get Paul's attention, which was quite sweet. I LOVE HAVE I GOT NOODLES NEWS FOR YOU.

Then we went for food, and the group was tragically split, but I had chocolate cake, so never mind. Then eight of us went back to [livejournal.com profile] ironicdutchess' flat, discovered [livejournal.com profile] whatho plays the guitar like woah, and I immediately bagsied a couch. And somehow I slept the massive heat and truck noise, which was quite special. And then it was the next day, and over. And I had to get bloody trains again. But not before [livejournal.com profile] ironicdutchess made me some toast(!), I got stabbed by glass, and pimped Aquamarine to my flist a bit. Which it turns out is released on June 23rd, and doesn't even compare to the clear glory of Stick It. Watch the trailers. You know you want to.

I got the tube on my own. AND WON IT. And found St Pancras, with the cunning trick of FOLLOWING THE SIGNS. And there was just trains, and home, only slightly getting trapped in a door on the way. Then Jack was my house and I got a bit slapped and kicked and hugged before we got him to sleep. And the rest, as they say, is history. Or, rather, the present. Yes.

In conclusion: London has far too many people (and bits of glass), but THE HIGNIFFY CREW IS THERE AND I LOVE THEM AND IT. Hurrah.

That recap was going to be well-organised, clever and witty. But then I sort of just wrote stuff. Apologies for any incoherency.

This morning one of my Betty Boop statues broke off her stand, and then her head fell off. I was going to hide it from my nephew for fear of traumatising him, but he seems unphased. Then mum and I and he went to the mysteriously renamed Freeport for some new work shoes. I think I was remarkably subtle about enjoying the DVD buying part more (Mirrormask and Seven Swords, yay!). And now I need to stop ignoring the presence of my grandmother and go downstairs, I think.

Toby Dr Who in half an hour! Yay!
