Kong was alone for a long time before the little yellow-haired one came. It’s not a feeling he misses. Nothing is quite the same as when his family lived, of course, beasts of his size, of his kind, who behaved as he did – but it's infinitely preferable to nothing.
So when, after a few months of gradual adaptation to each other, he finds himself going to sleep at night with the little yellow-haired one securely in his fist, and the little dark-haired one slightly further away, but still curled up assuredly in his fur, it’s a situation he feels no immediate compulsion to change.
