And then after the high of yesterday, a character I really liked and had a sort of hapless existence anyway was just really brutally, unexpectedly, and unpleasantly killed. If this is the sort of game it's going to be, then that's a good reason why I might fall off it and never finish it. I would hope that it's not, but before I started the game a couple of reviews described it as a 'big, beautiful downer', and I just don't think that's what I need in my life, or that it's very clever, frankly, if it's that weird, shock value kind of downer. Maybe it won't all be like this, but it's not long after another character in the game died, and I'm concerned it's going to be a trend. I didn't expect nothing nasty to ever happen in the game obviously, but if it's just all going to be nasty I don't care, and don't particularly want to go through that. But we'll see I guess. (This is something the main character says in his journal all the time).

And it was sad in any case.

Also, my computer is telling me my Avast virus definitions are out of date and that I need to update them, but when I go to update them it's showing no progress, like it did the other week when it kept my computer on all night, and never finished updating. So that's fun. Don't really feel good about going on any website till that's fixed, and it's looking like it won't fix itself. Bullshit.
