Am return-ed! And had a fairly decent time, for the most part. Aside from the waiting around for/screaming arguments with my sister. But that's neither here nor there. I'll tell you one thing, I'm glad to be getting out of here and back to Nottingham in a week or so. I only wish I could somehow take mum and dad and Jack with me.
Anyway. Yes. It was nice. A little bit Prisoner-like, but in a nice way. We got there late on Friday (guess why), but got settled in alright, and rented up some bikes. I came very close to falling off at first, but it's suprising how easily you get back into it. It's just like riding a bike! ;) And it's fun. I sort of wish I could get a bike again, but I suppose it still wouldn't be like it was there, where you can ride bikes everywhere, all up and down roads and along trails and just everywhere, and the cars have to stop for you because haha, Center Parks, it is made mostly for bikes people! Arse hurts, though.
The landscape was nice, all the trees and such. I've never actually been to Sherwood Forest before, in 2 years of studying there. Bad me. It did make me giggle when they showed a picture of how the forest was BEFORE Center Parks, which was of a pile of sticks, at a downward angle, on a horrible rainy cloudy day, and then of how it was AFTER Center Parks came - all green and clear, and sunlit, and at an inspiring upward angle! But it was nice. Ducks and rabbits played just outside our lodge. And I found a dead, rotting otter in the nearby stream. Which was nice. No foxes or roaming stags though, as the brochure seemed to promise >:( I wanted to see a fox (or vulpes vulpes...)
Anyway. It rained on Saturday. A whole lot. We had a big argument about who of the four got one of the three cagouls we'd brought, then m, d and I went off to the subtropical swimming paradise with j, while Katie went off to the gym (for two hours). I had my first experience with a tampon - will not be repeating THAT in a hurry. Easy application my eye. Anyway. There were waterslides and waves machines and dad and I did water handstands, and I mastered the art of opening my eyes underwater, and swallowed a whole lot of chlorine, and couldn't remember the name of that other Group 7 element they'd made horrendous gas out of in WWI/II, and it was happpying yay :) We were going to go bowling that night, but they didn't have an open slot until 11, so we wisely decided for Sunday yes.
Which was a nicer day than Saturday, so dad and I half-killed ourselves riding bikes around and around while Katie got up, and took about half an hour to get to somewhere we found on the way back was only ten minutes from the lodge. Ho hum. Then we went there for Sunday lunch (mmm, gravy), and dad and Katie played golf, and mum nearly fell off a bike, or did, or something, and we went bowling, wherein dad and Katie couldn't decide whether they wanted more to laugh at me, or be disturbingly serious about trying to win. But I never threw a ball backwards, practically into the baby's pushchair (!). And mum, who didn't even care, beat us all anyway, so it didn't really hugely matter and I did some decent bowling anyway, so haha! Then we had drinks, and went back and had a nice quiet evening of packing, and drinking and reading, and all was good so yay :)
