It works for me as a term to describe when someone is hunting for one or two people who are supposedly the cause of a problem that it's unlikely only one or two people caused. Like a scapegoat hunt, and again, in a sense of searching for/blaming people that basically don't exist. I always assumed that's how everyone else used it too, but now looking at how other people use the word I'm not so sure.

So few games have proper release dates, and for a while I understood that, because games are getting delayed so often nowadays, and it's always a lot of hassle for a game company to go through to announce a delay, and you know - for a while people were getting death threats whenever they delayed a game from an announced release date. So I totally understood why people might not want to announce a date until they were really sure, and it'd probably have to be pretty close to that date for them to be that sure. But. It just feels like it's getting ridiculous now. So many games are supposed to release in the first half of the year, and they can't release them all at the same time, so they're going to have to start soon, if they're still doing that. Although I do think the fact that Red Dead 2 still doesn't have a release date is making them extra cautious - they don't want to accidentally release a game too close to that. But. Like I say, they're going to have to tell us at some point. I got sent a trailer for upcoming games from Game, and they listed Days Gone as coming 'Early 2018', and I'm losing my shit.
