What happens to icons you've used on posts after you delete them? Do they go away on the old posts aswell, or not?

I am filling up my extra fifty slots (squee!) and might need to delete a couple. I want to save a few spaces for the future - this autumn looks like it might be a fanful one.

In other news, apparently wearing pirate outfits can help reduce global warming. All hail the great Flying Spaghetti Monster, and its mysterious ways...
