Playing the new Dragon Age game.

I'm still basically playing so I can hopefully get interesting background information to write F!Warden/Alistair fics, but I'll probably love it more as I go on.

The graphics are beautiful, but I still miss the old inventory system, with flowery descriptions of EVERYTHING. Also the combat still hurts my eyes and looks too cartoony to me, but I can cope with it.

I don't have a unicorn yet and it vexes me, I might have to work on that tomorrow.

They keep doing things I don't understand with the Dalish. I know it's probably because I'm very invested and am basically the Dalish Defence League, but ??? Why are they living in random houses round the countryside rather than in clans or alienages? Have they been thrown out of alienages because of the war? I'm only doing the Redcliffe environs at the moment, maybe I'll understand more as I go on. But WHY - why would a culture that requires magic users to lead it have a problem with excess magic users? Surely having a couple around in case your leader and their second-in-command have an accident would be preferable, actually? And why would a group of people so concerned with their races' survival, who apparently think of themselves more communally than individually, banish any member of their clan when they didn't have to? Much less a seven year-old child? I DON'T SEE HOW IT MAKES SENSE. But the Dalish are dicks, apparently. Every clan is different, blah blah blah.

The game itself is pressing on a few of my OCD tendencies in a slightly unsatisfactory way, in that you have to do a million quests to 'complete' an area, rather than having a specific story to follow and doing sidequests as when you want to. But that's probably a case of my needing to modify the way I play slightly, rather than needing to change the whole game.
