I've been looking at Dead Island...I saw in someone else's Let's Play that one of the characters was black, but I didn't see all of the other options. I don't know the story (and don't want to be spoiled for it), so I can't really say what else happens in it, but at least the option's there. I kind of meant in the main character sense though - I'm really enjoying playing as women in things like Saints Row and Skyrim where you get to choose your character, but I think more games based on a specific character who is female and/or POC, where you have to play as them and the story is about them, is something that's still sort of lacking.
Of course, I do not actually know any stats or anything about what's available in the market at the moment - I am basically going off the selection on sale secondhand in CEX and Game and stuff. I should probably look things up before I start talking about them. I'll admit I'm kind of mostly going off a comment I saw in a forum a few months ago, where someone said they were disappointed that they'd made the main character of Prototype 2 a black guy, because "I'm not racist, but I just don't enjoy playing as a black character as much as playing as a white one". It made me rage a little bit.
