I love my fandoms

girlofpreyI just watched last week's omnibus (the important bits, at least) and oh, oh, oh! THE KINGS! I LOVE THE KINGS! Jimmy (the eldest) got really stressed out because the housing thing wasn't going to plan, and his dad was angry at him, and Carl was criticising him, and a bunch of townsfolk were sabotaging things, and he had an argument in the pub and collapsed. And had to be taken to hospital. And Matthew and Sadie, who been previously mocking and hating him, came by just as he was being wheeled out, and Sadie was all 'oh...well, we'll call Tom' (Daddy King), and Matthew was 'you can call dad, I'm going with him!', and dashed off down the path and into the ambulance. Oh Matthew! He has become so beautiful since being estranged and cut off from his family. Possibly he is more beautiful than Carl at the moment. It's all very confusing.
And then Carl and Tom turned up at the hospital, where Matthew was being lovely. Carl had already proved his episode-worth by being smarter than Jimmy about certain things, and also beautiful and worried when Jimmy had a minor twizzle before the big breakdown. But at the hospital he was all hostile, and angry at Matthew, with the 'I trusted you foolishly and utterly and you betrayed me'-ness. But Matthew was just 'eyes of sweet love', and their dad was all tender with him and letting him help out with the business, and they walked away to see Jimmy, and Matthew was all 'And maybe we can talk...later...?', and THEIR DAD HAD JUST SPOKEN TO HIM, SO CLEARLY HE WAS TALKING TO/ABOUT CARL! And yay.
And then the dad asked Carl to leave him alone with Jimmy, so he could love his son, and he started talking about what a bad father he'd been, and he was looking out of the little window into the waiting room, where Matthew and Carl were sat chairs apart, with Carl all obviously staring down at a newspaper and ignoring Matthew - as if that was the worst thing he as a father could have allowed to happen. And Matthew had his head back against the wall, and then he just did this LITTLE SLOW SIDEWAYS LOOK AT CARL, and it was the most perfect thing ever. And then their dad was talking about how Matthew was helping out again now, and Carl was telling him that the King family weren't well liked in [Emmerdale town], and Matthew was all 'well the King family had better stick together, then'. He so won him over with unhealthy family bonds. And I love it. Oh.
I know spoilers. Huge and terrible spoilers. Jimmy will be in trouble, and Tom will probably collapse and have to go into hospital, and Matthew will cry, and Carl will hold him, like he held Carl when their brother died, while also crying himself, because it's all such a mess. And oh. I love Emmerdale.
I have a sore throat. Damned waking up freezing at 6 o clock in the morning. Unless I have finally just dissolved my vocal chords with coke. I will probably still be well enough for work, and POTC2, tomorrow. If I didn't have to look after the dog, I could just get off the train at the stop by the cinema. As it is, I have to go home from work an hour early, to our station, walk home, take care of the dog and possibly change, then walk back to our station to catch another train. All within an hour and twenty minutes. And then get a taxi home, because there are no buses or trains at that time of night. Surely it will be worth it though.
Actually what with POTC2, the Dr Who finale, Eerie Indiana hopefully arriving, and another King-filled Emmerdale omnibus, I may have a bit of a fandom implosion this weekend. Plus rewatching POTC (probably), and the rest of the Neverwhere tapes. Pray for me.
