Slightly random, but hey! I'm a slightly random kind of a girl....

I do actually think that the majority of horrendous reading for uni is behind me, for a little while. At least, I don't think there are any more novels for Gothic in the upcoming weeks. Plenty of photocopies and research for Caroline Drama (that's right [livejournal.com profile] nerdcakes, Rachael has 'Caroline' lectures and seminars. In your FACE! :p ), and oh yes, The Metamorphoses by Ovid. But I have reading week for that. And there's the fact that I've only read 160 pages of the Mysteries of Udolpho, out of 600 - but we can all do me a favour and pretend that's not true, and yes. A much less stressful rest-of-term. Aside from essays. But yes.

Rachael has no money. Rachael bought Sun Tzu's The Art of War and Eddie Izzard's 'Circle' and the new Empire magazine anyway. Rachael perhaps not the smartest cookie in the box. Eddie Izzard really awfully funny though. 'Drink this wine, it's a merlot?'. Why are all his shows filmed in New York? ::puzzled::

Also I semi-intend to get inspiration for Anton/Zavulon bunnies from 'The Art of War'. Therefore it's practically a public service. People are writing really good fic for Night Watch. Fic with plot. And dialogue. And things that happen. The bar is raised, people. But ee. I have a fandom. People are writing in the fandom. People that aren't me. Me and My Fandom. It is small but it is good. Yes :)

That said; something I've never done before.

Recs

I recognise that most of you have not seen Night Watch. But you should still go read The Only Question by [livejournal.com profile] slippery_fish - vampire/vampire-hunter friendship angst - and Merciless by [livejournal.com profile] cupiscent, who also made my nifty/beautiful icon. You probably won't understand it without the film, but it is 'guh'. And 'omg'.

ETA: Also there is Shadows and Twilight by [livejournal.com profile] narrauko - hope you don't mind me reccing this, [livejournal.com profile] narrauko? It is Anton being screwed up and generally crazy in his way, with a bit of slash thrown in for good measure. Yay :)

Also, am loving Issue Fifty: The Super Crossover Extravangza, and all the series before it. Because I don't know who the Sark guy is, but Seth Cohen still deserves hot gay British assassin sex. Yes he does.

And [livejournal.com profile] slippery_fish is apparently getting an at least somewhat Anton/Zavulon-ish fic betad, and I just know it will go up tonight, or tomorrow, and I won't get to it until Sunday or Monday or something, because my parents are coming down tomorrow. And possibly bringing Jack. But mostly bringing themselves and my airer and my CDs and money so that I won't have to pay for things, and god yes. But I don't intend to stop off and check my e-mail.

It would be nice if I had the internet at home (damn you, Wanadoo!). But in another way, it's quite nice not having it. From a writing perspective. When I have the internet on my computer I tend to look for other people's fic more than writing my own, and feel like I should be uploading it at the end of every draft. Without, I get to have quiet time wherein I can just write and it's nothing to do with the internet or fandom, in a way. Hmm. Most fanficcers obviously do not feel like this. Perhaps I have issues. But either way, it is nice.

I love this freaking fandom SO much.

No idea when I get the story back. Hopefully soon...

:D ::shares sentiment::

I love it because most of my fandoms tend to consist mainly of myself, and hence do very little without me.

But Night Watch fandom so great. And so small. It's a nice, cozy small, but I do wish more people had at least seen the film, because it deserves it. You know the only cinema in my city (that I know of, at least) that was showing it, has stopped, all of 2/3 weeks after it's release? I'm glad I went to see it 3 times while I had the chance... Hopefully the DVD will be out soon, and will set things aright.

Sounds familiar.

Wow. It's still out here. And it got a lot of publicity because one of our main TV channels did specials on it and so on.

I told a lie, actually. It was on at the cinema last night when I went with my parents. But only on Friday and Saturday, and only at 10:30 at night both nights. So I think I can pretty much assume it's gone now :(

Not so much publicity here. In that - none. I saw the trailer in the cinema once when I went to see a different film over the summer, and the cinema playing it here was showing the trailer on their 'publicity screens' in the lobby - but that's all I really heard about it other than from my film magazines. And you have the translation too! ::shakes fist::

You mean, except the ones that are filmed in The City of Snakes! San Francisco? I have no idea. Although, personally, the thing that puts me off Sexie is the audience's reaction to the jokes... and that was filmed in Eastbourne. *shrugs*

Eddie is awesome though.

[identity profile] girlofprey.livejournal.com 2005-10-30 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Truly he is, yes. I have not seen Sexie. It just puzzles me because there are so many British jokes that the Americans don't get. But anyway. It's probably a marketing thing. Or because British audiences get them too well, and sound like they're from Eastbourne.
