Hello. I went to the Riverside Festival. It was wicked, as it is most years. I spent too much, but I did buy CDs for the first time ever, and I saw

katemonkey in the crowd, which was lovely.

BUT. Mostly what happened was that the soaps were mostly amazing on Friday, and I was nowhere near a computer. However, I did take helpful notes. Here they are, lovingly recreated for you:

It's going to be awkward for everyone when they finally sleep together.

Personally, I think I undersold it on the Gail getting jealous of Becky thing. In my head, that thought was more like "Gail getting angry over someone Nick has slept with: QUELLE SUPRISE". Everything else was pretty much to the letter though. Except it didn't really capture how beautiful Becky was in that episode. Frankly, I was quite impressed at the restraint David showed in not immediately getting a divorce and trying to marry her. Very impressed indeed.

Seriously though. I know most of my flist don't watch Emmerdale, but if anyone does, I would sincerely like to know if I was the only one CRYING on Friday night.

And genuinely, was it just me, or were David and Becky having INCREDIBLE chemistry in that last episode? All shouting at each other from where they were slouched in the street, and leaning on lamposts and stuff. Good god. Also, I don't really care for Nick much, but he has gone up several thousand points just for being nice to Becky. And never failing to flirt with David on the while. Seriously, smacking his bum? While he's in his underpants? There's a part of me that thinks David was in on a threesome with Nick and Becky, in which case he had no real justification for looking so suprised when she turned up for breakfast.

Aaaaaaaaaahhhh. Essentially.

In other news, that's pretty much it. The Riverside Festival was lovely and sunny and rainy, but hardly ever rainy for very long. For some reason this year they didn't put descriptions of each band in the programme, so it was hard to tell what you were going to see, but I did manage to find quite a lot of really good bands anyway. At one point I was at a gig, and it started raining a bit, but a lot of us stuck it out, and eventually we ended up dancing in front of a massive, really vibrant double rainbow. Which looked to me to be turning into a triple rainbow slightly at some points. But anyway. It was really good. Also I found a stall selling really nice necklaces and I spent too much on jewellery in a new and unexpected way. But I don't regret it, and it was really really nice. Also, I didn't stay for the fireworks on Saturday night, because I didn't want to get back too late, given that I was in town on my own. But I got the bus back, got back to my hotel, settled down in my room, and then started hearing some bangs. I looked behind the curtains, and I could see some of the fireworks from my hotel room. Irritatingly, the Hotel Britannia was directly between me and them, but the Travellodge (I think) was across the road from it, and I could see the reflections from a lot of them in its windows. And some of them came over the top of the Hotel Britannia anyway. Which was quite lovely :)

Soaps are amazing. And so are festivals.

I'm sorry I didn't go say hi to you, but being with my in-laws and my baby niece and everyone, it was just difficult to get away without everyone having a fit about how we ALL HAD TO STAY TOGETHER.

But I'm glad you had a good time! I spent too much money on random food (AS I ALWAYS DO).

Hello! It's fine, I would have come over to you, but you looked like you were with people, and I didn't want to intrude. Also, you know, anything can happen when families don't all stand together, so at least we weren't responsible for that sort of incident ;)

I spent too much on jewellery and CDs, so you probably did better than me!
