(no subject)

Managed to eat dinner (most of it) and wash my hair last night, and get SOME sleep (yay!), and go to my confidence course today. Which is probably for the best, since next week's is apparently the last one. But anyway, I did it, and I can now make the post I was planning to make at some point last night.

On last night's Coronation Street: Oh Becky. I was a little unsure how it was going to go to be honest, because the thing is, they've always played it sort of ambiguously whether Becky wants to keep Max for his sake, or just because she wants him. Obviously there's been quite a lot of wanting to keep him for his sake, but there have also been moments like when Kylie was first going to go abroad with him, and Becky got down on her knees and begged Kylie 'not to take him away from her' (Becky). So I always worry they're going to swing back into that territory again, and the Daily Express Saturday magazine said this week's episodes were dedicated to the end of the John Stape/Fiz saga, and the massive reduction in the likeability of Becky. And the magazine's weird, and people are sometimes weird about Becky, so I didn't put too much stock in it, but you never know with soaps sometimes.

But Becky was perfect. I know Steve had to poke her to get her to stop lying to the social worker's, but when she did stop lying, and when she decided to just tell the whole truth, because she was just sick of Kylie, I loved her quite a lot. And then they took Max away. The point at which I started getting emotional was when Becky started crying, and the point at which I started tearing up was when she was just quietly putting away Max's toys. And David being kind of an idiot, and just not understanding Social Services, or not as well as Kylie and Becky do. And oh god.

I think I kind of understand a bit more what they're doing with Kylie now though. Lying all the time just to cover herself, as far as I can tell, because Becky and Steve took her in long before they even knew about Max, so that's bullshit. I guess she had David coaching her and pushing her a bit. But still.

I'm slowly letting go of my dream of Becky and David working together and being sort of in love, by the way. I've decided to try to grow out of it, since canon isn't apparently planning on going along with it. Hmph.

And elsewhere on the street, Maria was clearly thinking of Tony when they were talking about how Fiz could not have known how awful John was, and when Maria said sometimes the most evil people are the ones who seem the most normal, or something? I was expecting them to bring it up, at some point, actually. Maybe after Fiz has gotten over the shock of her husband being a murderer, and also a jerk.

God. I want Becky to get drunk, and do some terrifying and glorious home-truth speeches to people while standing too close to them, and possibly stroking their hair. David is first on my list. Then possibly Tracy. Kylie probably just wouldn't care or notice how great it was. And Steve has possibly moved beyond that, at this point. Also, I did notice how they suddenly and without much reason sent Roy and Hayley on a holiday this week, so Becky has absolutely no support to fall back on while everything happens. Except maybe Anna. But she's got Faye to look after I guess. Well done, Coronation Street. You've made it about as bad as it could possibly be. Although we've still got the next two episodes to get through, I guess.

In other news, while I was trying to finish my dinner last night my parents put on the latest episode of the Apprentice, and I saw probably the only full episode I've ever seen. I think I picked a pretty good one to watch though. BOTH my parents suddenly gasped when Alan Sugar fired two people. I didn't even know he could do that! Do his powers know no bounds? What will happen to the length of the show? Omg. I did kind of enjoy Vincent being madly in love with Jim, though. Although it didn't work out for him very well, obviously..

And in Hollyoaks, Leanne still loves Texas. I had hoped, wildly, that Hollyoaks might do something glorious, like have Leanne, Texas and Doug bond over having loved ones be killed by the maniac murdering girls in Hollyoaks just at the moment, or having been (supposedly) maybe attacked by him, and then TEAM UP to catch him. And in the end Leanne would catch him, partly by out-madding him, and then when he was caught she could own up to having never really been attacked in the first place, and being really sorry. And Texas and Doug would be disappointed in her, but by then she'd have caught the maniac (Silas) and sort of avenged their sister and girlfriend, so they would just love her anyway, and be an OT3 forever. But sadly tonight Texas and Leanne were still hanging out together, but Doug was off with his friends, and then an (unbeknownst to him) underage girl. So possibly not. :(
