Capslock is so much fun

My days at home have not been as productive as I'd have hoped. I sort of wanted my drama essay completely finished by now, given that it was pretty much written last Thursday. Do you know what I've been doing for the past two days? Do you? Counting lines in two stupid playtexts that have no line references of their own so I could do references properly. And pencilling them in one. In a library book. And then I found out that if the playtext has no line numbers, you can just reference the page number. Except that one was a web text, and the other was a really crappy library copy that most other people would likely not have, so I carried on doing it anyway. PROBABLY WRONG. I was ill yesterday anyway. I can't be blamed.

Anyway. So my references are done. And now I just have to delete 2,000 words or so because it is SO MUCH over the wordcount. I will do this later in the week I think. I have not done any kind of reading for the other three yet. I apparently somehow managed to convince myself that from last Friday to next Wednesday was a week, and perfectly acceptable to 'take off' for Christmas. They are all due 3 weeks tomorrow. Help :(

That said, I quite like the plays I was referencing. One was A New Way To Pay Old Debts, which has the FABULOUS Giles Overreach, who I envisioned played by John Malkovich, in Dangerous Liasons. And he has a clerk called Jack Marall, who is a bit random and back-stabby, and probably meant to be really old, BUT I DECIDED HE IS YOUNG, and has floppy black hair, and just a victim of the game between abusive John Malkovich Giles, and the young (clearly blond) nephew he ruined who's decided to turn the tables. And yes. Slash makes everything better :)

And the other is by James Shirley, who writes 17th century plays about lesbians, I am not kidding. He wrote another one we looked at, about a young lady who is locked in a tower by her father, with her handmaidens, one of which is a loud, outspoken aggressive type. They decide to put on a play to amuse themselves, and the girl plays Danae, and the loud handmaiden plays Jupiter, and there is a moment where she is almost overcome with lust and temtped to 'ravish' her. This one, The Lady of Pleasure, is about two crazy women who live in 'the Strand', and are all involved with the world of fashion and entertainments and parties, and demanding BETTER clothes, coaches made with MORE GOLD. One is a 15-year old widow, the other has a husband who is DULL, and complains about her spending too much. They sort-of rivals. Celestina and Aretina. I was slashing them from Act 1. AND THEN somewhere in the middle, the husband is talking about Celestina to try to make Aretina jealous, but she admits Celestina is really beautiful, and goes on about it for a while, and then says 'and if I were a man...'

And I died of happiness.

There should be a comm for Caroline drama slash.

It is three days till Christmas. I have a present for ONE member of my family. I have at least four more to buy. However, since I am only planning to spend about a £5 on each beloved kinperson, I shouldn't have to spend to long looking for quality. I am thinking booze and perfume and chocolate. And Jack's fairly young. He won't notice if I get him a ball or something.

I am still mostly in love with Jack Driscoll. DON'T THINK I HAVEN'T NOTICED that you all haven't run out and watched the film and brought me back a fandom! I want to make him tea and watch him type. I want him to try to type in the jungle, with palm leaves ocassionally batting him in the face. I want A Natural History of Skull Island. I want to make a gif icon of Carl Denham with the text from Futurama's 'Nixon inviting all the robots to the island party' speech. 'From which there will be NO ESCAPE...from the fun!'

But mostly I want Jack Driscoll. There were so many things from the movie I forgot to mention. He's not just pretty! He wears suits and grey waistcoats and brown leather shoes, in the JUNGLE. I think. They put him below decks, in an animal cage, and he doesn't look pleased, but HARDLY COMPLAINS AT ALL. And probably sleeps on straw. For months. Oh, he probably had to pick straw out of his hair in the mornings! And when he and Ann first meet, she at first mistakes someone else for him, and talks about how he/they're not all pretentious and boring, 'with their nose stuck in a book', and he walks in behind her, with his nose stuck in a HUGE book. This is not a joke about Adrien Brody's nose, which I've just realised it could be. I barely noticed the nose, except for one scene where you really cannot miss it, and it's quite funny. But HE SO WAS THE LITERARY, NERDY TYPE, AND HE DID NOT CARE. And he was rubbish with words, despite being a playwright, and did it shirtlessly, so it was even better. And there's a scene where he's on deck while Ann is acting and looking pretty, and he just looks at her, and she looks at him, and everyone looks round because it is messing up the scene, AND HE IS JUST OBLIVIOUS AND KEEPS STARING AT HER DREAMILY LIKE A DOOFUS. And it is beautiful. As beautiful as him.

And so man more things. He is glorious. He should have his own comm. And his own ficathons. And the odd fuq-u-thon, but done in a tasteful, sensitive way. There should be comms for lots of things. I am tempted to make comms for all my favourite subjects, because they are a piece of piss to make, and then they would at least be THERE. I am tempted to join [livejournal.com profile] escapefrom. But I have NEVER PLAYED WOE.

I found Trolli burgers again! Probably no-one will know what I mean. Anyone who does gets my undying love. They are sweets I used to eat when I was a child, and could only reliably get in Spars in Spain and Greece. They are a burger, but with five layers of gummi candy, and chock full of artifical colourings and flavourings but OMG SO GOOD. They disappeared for years. There was no mention of them on the net. But I found some in Woolworths on Monday, and they are in different packaging and called 'Gummi' not 'Trolli', but they taste the same, and if they are a subsitute are a good enough substitute for me. I stock up on them before I return to Nottingham, I think. And maybe make a comm. devoted to them. Or an icon. Yes.

I am procrastinating a bit. Can you tell?

Join it now! Join it now! You'll come and stay for a bit sometime, and you'll almost certainly play it then!

Hurray for comms with low standards!
