The best of the rest
Or part .85, I suppose. Monday. Monday, Monday, Monday. The day we were leaving, and the first day of truly nice weather. Arse. We did not vacate the lodge by 10 o'clock, more like half-past (guess why), and then we basically just hung around waiting for Katie's horse-riding session to start at half-past two. I bought moonstone and chocolate fudge. Katie and mum played crazy golf (mum won), and we had pancakes by the lake. Katie dashed off for a 45-minute horse-riding session, and didn't come back till quarter to five. Apparently there were buses and people being late and lalala. Parents weren't pleased. I was bored, but it was still a nice day out, and a decent place to hang around in for however long, and we got by. She finally returned, we set off, and an hour later we were home. Jiggety jig.
So now we're back home and the dog's a bit ill and I have to figure out how to get moved in in Nottingham in less than a week. I'm aiming for the weekend, so that I'll be there for the free press showing of Land of the Dead on Monday (John Leguizamo! Eee!), but there is lots to do. And things to buy. But it turns out I have more money than I thought I did, 'cause of dad, which is nice. Still not enough to justify an £80 Ted Baker jacket though.
Films: I'm very much looking forward to films this winter. I may have to buy a calendar just to inform me when all the release dates are so I can plan my life accordingly. I got the new Total Film on Friday, and it had a Winter Preview, and omg. Films. And it came with a Winter Preview DVD, which is so much better than the last free DVD they handed out, and is basically just a little disc full of trailers for all the good films coming out this winter. Except Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which is annoying, but still. Films. Narnia. The Brother's Grimm. Night Watch!! Harry Potter. King Kong. Serenity. Which is far prettier and shinier than it out to be, and I've never fancied Jayne before, but he unzipped his jacket wearing glasses and I was lost. I'm really quite tempted to buy a ticket to the Nottingham premiere, seeing-the-DVDs be damned! And I have money, so...perhaps yes. If there are any left.
Reading: Dracula. For uni. Which is long. And scary. And good. And I read the preface about Dracula and Victorian England, and started thinking about Dracula/Soames Forsyte and had to put it down. Not that Dracula needs Soames with Jonathon Harker around, of course - their love is so 'they've had sex already haven't they'? And there's a nice article in the back about 'the homoerotic history of Dracula', and there should really be articles like that the back of every book everywhere. And Carl King might get involved in it all. I don't know.
Nottingham uni have sent me a nice pack of something to tell me how to cope with coming back to uni, which is sweet. Probably I'll look at that now. But I love you all, and happy for the ones in a nice pink house, and happy for the ones moving into Preston, mwah!
