Coronation Street and Saints Row IV
- Gloria was the one who told Stella Karl's possessive controlling behaviour was 'passionate'. Why on earth would anyone listen to her advice about men anymore?
- And I can't believe her advice about this man was "he obviously loves you, he didn't sleep with someone else twice!". I don't care about Leanne, and she did ruin her own wedding day, but Nick lied to her about sleeping with Kylie, for months, even when she specifically asked if he slept with someone else on Christmas Day. That is actually worth being upset about.
- alkdsjskjal Kylie. "Why can't I go work with Leanne again? Are we never going to be allowed to forget what we did?". You've done a REALLY GOOD JOB of forgetting about it, like it didn't even matter. That's what everyone's so upset about.
- It is nice that Kylie, Gail and Nick are really close and have really good relationships with each other. But it's a little weird when I remember that they're so close partly because they really bonded over sleeping around behind people's backs and lying about it together.
- How the fuck could Leanne shout at Nick at that party? I hate Leanne. Like yeah she's upset with him, and upset that he shouted at Simon, but she does know he was in a coma and has brain damage. Like he's less able than other people to control those outbursts, and you probably shouldn't try to make him feel ashamed about it. That's exactly what she was shouting at David about the other day. And it's not even like she had an outburst and then felt bad, she continued to feel annoyed about it all the way to the Bistro.
- When she acts like that it seems really obvious that worrying about being able to cope with Nick's condition is a big part of her reason for wanting to leave him, which is what I heard the storyline was partly about. But Coronation Street is so odd sometimes I can never tell if lines like those are set-up for storylines that will come later, Leanne being a dick, or just bad writing.
- And I've just realised that Grace is yet another character of colour that's basically been brought in to be evil and upset the other (white) characters. At a time when they're getting rid of their non-evil characters of colour (Sunita, Mandy) and not replacing them. Well done, Corrie.
- And OMG LOL at Owen mentioning that he's had worse outbursts than Nick's at kids, which he didn't say was probably that time he slapped Faye in the face.
On the plus side:
- David has magic powers, eeee!
- Aww, Eileen's hair.
Also, I've started playing Saints Row IV. I hated Saints Row the Third for really going over the top with the cartoonish-ness and taking away a lot of the stuff I loved in the second game, so I never finished it. But I'm enjoying the fourth one because they've really committed to the cartoonish-ness, making you President, having aliens attack, and putting you in a computer simulation where you have superpowers. The only problem now is, since they're taking the third game as more relevant canon than the second, I don't know who anyone is. And I don't want to stop playing IV to go back and finish The Third. Or play The Third at all. So I'm flying blind. Sigh.
