So. Apart from the ending of Mass Effect being sort of dissatisfying, it also turns out that - despite a huge kinkmeme - there's little-to-no fic for any of my (terrible terrible) pairings. Or at least little-to-none with male Shepard in them. I'm assuming this is because most of the fans that might normally write slash - women - would have probably played Shepard as female, and therefore he's not 'their' Shepard. I should probably have guessed about that, and in some ways I did. But it's still annoying.

Also it turns out there's a bunch of DLCs I haven't played, some even for Mass Effect 2, so I'm still seeing spoilers and not understanding who some of the characters are despite my best efforts. Hmph.

In other news, it's my birthday tomorrow, and I still have no idea what I might want for it. Mum and I are going to Leeds, and then supposedly for a meal. But we're still planning it around mum ferrying my nephews around a bunch and she, for some reason, decided letting my sister know she wasn't available for ferrying all day but not telling her what we were actually doing, like it was some massive secret, was a great idea. So we'll see how those plans go. I'm not expecting a huge argument, at least. But you never know.

And after that, it's Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, the day the clocks go forward, Easter Sunday (while my mum is working a 12-hour shift), and then Easter Monday and April Fool's Day all rolled into one. During all of which it might well snow. So that should be fun.

Also Okay, so I was mostly all "Whaaaaaaaat??" at the Molly thing at the end. Mostly because I assumed she ironically choked to death on her dinner after that last flashback of Ryan's, and his friend hadn't told Claire about that to give her some hope. But also - whaaaaaaaat? Wasn't Ryan supposedly dating Molly before he got involved with Joe and his murders? So - she was a serial killer at the time? Or somehow an old friend of Joe by sheer coincidence? Or was she just SO UPSET at Ryan dumping her, she eventually decided to JOIN A MURDER CULT with very little encouraging? Are she and Joe in a "dumped by Ryan" club together? Does Joe have access to TIME TRAVEL? WHAT IS GOING ON?

But I assume they're going to explain that - somehow - next week. Mainly what I think is, lol, that manor house is going to be a sad place for Emma next week. Jacob wants to kill her, Joe is probably going to ignore her in the hopes no-one finds out about him sleeping with her, and Claire will probably not be that happy about her having lied her way through being Joey's nanny for so many years. I'm guessing Joey will end up being the only one sticking up for her, just because he doesn't know what's going on. Or that she and Roderick, who's no longer exactly the golden boy, will end up teaming up. For...something. Protection, maybe. Or some sort of shambolic takeover. I know cults are meant to stick together, by definition, but maybe starting a cult full of murderers, of the type that tend to be loners and don't emotionally connect well with others, wasn't the best of plans. Joe.

And also I had to laugh at how often Ryan and company would see murderers ON THEIR WAY TO KILL THEM, and just stand there for a few minutes like "...damn". Instead of, I don't know, GETTING THE HELL OUT OF THE BACK DOOR IMMEDIATELY? Maybe? Calling the police? Something more than standing around while the murderers get ever closer.

Also what they ought to do now is, since Ryan knows there were three of them after Claire and at the motel, check the reception desk CCTV for who else showed up that day, and cross reference it with all the people who visited Joe, to find Roderick. Who should be easy to trace, being a sheriff and all. But they probably won't.

I did like the call Joe made to Ryan this week. It's nice when they're actually a bit slashy instead of...nothingy. But my current theory is that Joe is trying to make Ryan feel 'alive' with this case, so that when Joe kills him, it actually means something. I don't like as much as my theory that eventually the cult would kidnap Ryan, and Joe would explain that his life is so filled with death and he's so great that Joe wants him to JOIN the cult, and he's willing to lock him in a room for as long as it takes until the Stockholm's kicks in. Or until he kills enough cult members that it becomes a problem. That is a season 2 I would happily have watched.
