Since I have time to do them now!
Ask me my opinion on any character from any fandom, and I will give it to you. If I do not know the fandom, I will say what I think I know based on fannish osmosis.
Annnnd:
1. Go into your LJ archive
2. Find your 23rd post
3. Find your 5th sentence (or closest to it)
4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions
5. Tag 5 people on your friend list
Wandering Leeds campus (not quite the urban wasteland I remembered it - more of a concrete palace) got me wondering what my life would have been like if I had gone there instead of the (lovely (though evil)) Nottingham.
I'm not tagging though. It's just not my bag, baby. Feel free to meme with me, if you like.

Date: 2005-08-21 06:05 am (UTC)Count Olaf - Bookwise, a very intelligent man, but thinks he's more intelligent than he is. There have been times when the Hook-Handed Man has noticed things he hasn', although HHM seems to be getting more depth in the recent books, so perhaps that's okay. I'm not sure if he really wants to be an actor or is just 'acting', but he's not very good at it, so I can sort of pity that. Self-esteem issues perhaps, since he feels the need to insult the (lovely) children so often - the other henchmen rarely do. Ultimately, again, self-delusional, and probably going to get smacked down by much worse people very soon. Very good match with Esme ;)
Moviewise...I'm not sure. He was not the focus of my attention. And I have not seen the movie in a while. But 'sharper' than book!Olaf, I think. Funnier. Better fashion sense (omg, jacket! ::licks::). And also genuinely scary - that scene where he waiting in the rocking chair in the hall, with the knife flashing? Eayargh/::shudder:: And the off-handed way he kills everyone - not so much gloating as in the book. I could have done without the Olaf/Josephineness though.
More later perhaps. I think I'm going out for dinner soon :D

Date: 2005-08-21 07:44 am (UTC)Damien Day - Eeeeeee!!! Baby, baby, baby. Yet another of my beloved vulnerable bastards (ooh, Damien/Guy!). He is psycopathic in his attempts to get stories, but to the point of not even considering his own well-being, never mind the truth. And he has mother issues, and was locked in cupboards as a child, and does potholing and karate in a subconsious attempt to get rid of all his sexual tension, and should just be shagged by everyone everywhere! He is often cruel and insensitive, but always has quick, sharp sarcasm to put down people who are horrible and generally comes through for his friends (effortful pushing! Eleventy!), and is just yay and I smother him in my love and I NEED THE DVDS DAMMIT!!! Also an icon. Hmph.
Rodney McKay - Not even fannish osmosis can help me here. Clever, with guns?
Sir Humphrey Appleby - Um. Clever, with puns? ::is shamed on yes::
Blackadder II and Percy - I love Blackadder and think he is generally a snarky bastard and damn cool - boy hero from the past! But I could not tell you about individual Blackadders to save my life. So just generally this. And Percy I seem to remember as being very dim but cute in a 'Yay, honour!/Whoops I lost again' type of way. Why I think they make a lovely couple - Um...because one is snarky and the other is dim, but they both keep getting screwed anyway? And also they do sex? ::smiles hopefully::?

Date: 2005-08-21 08:01 am (UTC)Henry from out of drop the dead donkey - Oh, we all know my focus is generally elsewhere during this programme ;) But although I feel I should be more upset about Henry's drunky/gambly/womanising ways, he is still so very cool, and just rocks mostly. He is always the first to jump on one of Gus' stupid ideas, and with a passion none of the rest of them have, because he has EXPERIENCE and can call new ideas stupid if he wants. And he is just generally unrestrainedly disdainful of Sally, and that's what I like about him, I think - his unrestrainedness. If he thinks something, he'll say it. If he wants something, he'll go after it. And he's always smart, and a damn good newsreader and he knows it, and he's earned it. Bit of a bastard. But I like him :)
Francis just because - Oooh, this is a hard meme. I am either asked about people I don't really know or characters I never really thought about before, or I am asked about ones I love so much words cannot express it. But I love Francis! He is mostly an idiot, but then sometimes ingenious in his schemes, which is confusing (I call it Bart Simpson Syndrome). But he always kicks ass at pool, even when he's losing, and he can even bond/fall in love with the man he always fights against while doing it, so yay.
And the writers can't seem to decide if he is a bad boy or a passionate idealist working against the system, but I love him both times. Especially when he is a bad boy. There has not been enough of that in recent episodes. That is when he looks like he wouldn't mind shagging anyone, and would probably bring his own handcuffs and baby oil. But he is very often idealistic when talking to Spangler, and has big blue eyes and really can't understand why Spangler is doing some things, and they have honest conversations, properly honest, and Francis rarely wins them and ends up looking sad, and I love him. He is yay. An idiot, but yay. He comes through for the things he believes in. It is good.
