I got things done today! I called my bank to arrange a transfer of money from my ISA to cover my bills for Redemption. I normally dread this, because due to a mix-up and the takeover of my bank by another bank, I only seemed to have my old details for my ISA, which weren't in the right format for my bank to now do anything with. Which basically meant whenever I called there was a lot of umming and ahhing, then security questions I obviously couldn't answer well enough, and then they'd say no and I'd have to go in and do it over the counter. I upgraded my account and got all new details last year, but I haven't used it since then. Today however all my details seemed to be good enough and in good order, and I managed to get it all done. The only problem was the phoneline - it was so quiet I could barely hear anything they were saying, which when people are asking you security questions isn't always great. Also the people I spoke to were either Scottish or Irish - I can't always tell those accents apart for some reason - so they had accents, and I could barely hear them, and occasionally they just spouted boilerplate at me very quickly. Which wasn't brilliant. But I'm pretty sure overall the money came from where it should and is going where it should. Which, according to the terms and conditions I got sent with my new details, means it should be in my current account by Thursday at the latest. Which is win.
Also I emailed my Employment Coach, which I've been meaning to do for a week or two now. Which means that barring packing and washing my hair, I have done everything I need to do before going to Redemption this weekend. Hurrah! I still can't quite get my head around the fact that I have tomorrow to pack, and then I have to be off, on a train, on Thursday. For some reason I'm pretty convinced that should be Friday, but it isn't. But like I say, I've done everything I need to do, pretty much.
Also, I ordered some things from overseas a few weeks ago, and the last of them came in the post today. So I can stop waiting for them and worrying they're lost in the post or something.
Also, I finished all the sidequests I am planning to do in Mass Effect, so I can get back on with the main storyline. Benezia here I come.
Also, I watched episode 5 of The Following. My main issue with The Following is just that it's a lot trashier than I was expecting, given the way it was described before it came out. But I do like the way they're keeping everything zipping along at the moment. There was still plenty that was SO stupid in this episode though. Like, why did the old couple let Joey go back with Emma when he admitted to being the abducted kid from the news? And if the old couple had seen Joey on the news, why hadn't they seen Emma's picture too? And why did Joey run away from the house, having overheard Paul and Emma talk about how they were lying to him, only to run right back into Emma's arms when she turned back up again? I know it was basically so Ryan could get to know where Joey was and the old couple could get killed. But whyyyyyyyyyyyy???
But even so, like I say, they seem to be keeping things zipping along, and that was an extremely effective cliffhanger they ended on. Next week's episode will be the halfway point of the season, and given that we were still 'in media res' at the end of this episode, I think they're really going to shake things up next week, and properly change the game around for the second half of the season. So I predict that in the next episode Ryan will save Joey, only to find out that Claire's now been kidnapped, that the young FBI guy will properly come out as a serial killer by killing the young woman cop who's been giving him the goo-goo eyes, and that one of the serial killer threesome will die. I couldn't think who it would be most likely to be at first, but now Jacob seems like the logical choice. Obviously they're going to want Paul around while ever Joey's with the serial killers, so he can pose a threat to him, and I'm guessing Joey will get saved from them next week. But what's Jacob actually going to do, if he can't kill people and doesn't seem to want to? So I am going to guess that Paul does something reckless with Joey next week, Emma fights him over it, and them fighting nearly gets them captured or killed. So Jacob sacrifices himself so Emma and Paul can get away, thinking that he'll never be able to kill anyone or be who they want him to be anyway, so it's the only thing he can really do for them. And then Emma and Paul get away and have to try to carry on, patching up their newfound, newly-wrecked relationship and blaming each other for Paul's death, and basically just being nutcases together. That was a bit of a ramble of thoughts. It probably won't happen. BUT IT'S WHAT I'M PREDICTING, at the moment.
I do think they're really going to change things up next week though. And the Claire getting kidnapped thing really makes sense to me, because the show's producers have described the show a 'a kind of love story between Ryan and Joe', and if Claire gets kidnapped it's kind of annoying, but that's going to push them together, just because Joe will be the only other adult who knows about his, Ryan and Claire's shared history. And serial killer interrogation shenanigans, you know.
I also really hope Megan survives. It seems ridiculous in a show like this, but when she first got kidnapped I wasn't expecting her to live very long, and she has. I hope she gets out of the basement. Given that I really think the young FBI guy will turn out to be a serial killer next week, I kind of want Ryan to realise that most of his team have either turned on him or died, and team up with Megan and Joe's lawyer woman, who are both mad as hell and not going to take it anymore, to solve the crime! Have I mentioned that I love the fact that Ryan isn't technically an FBI agent anymore, so he can just going around doing what he wants, breaking fingers and smashing down doors? BECAUSE I DO. He could team up with Megan and the lawyer so easily. And it would almost instantly solve their 'women keep dying and there aren't many non-white people around' problem. Amazing. I probably shouldn't raise my hopes of any of the women in the show living for very long. It will probably not serve me well in the long-term.
